Focus on Togo

The Togolese Republic is a narrow strip of land on Africa’s West coast. Once regarded highly in West Africa for its tranquil beaches, exotic markets and friendly people sadly Togo has been the victim of many riots and human rights abuses since the 1990s.
As a result of poor governance in the past Togo has got a lot of humanitarian issues to content with and violence is still present in urban areas. Despite the troubles though Togo is a land covered with a beautiful hilly landscape and a wide range of diverse cultures and most people are eager for peace. Togo’s people remain resilient and are known to be amongst the most accommodating in West Africa.
In Togo’s capital city Lomè you would be most likely to be found enjoying yam-based dishes and like many West African countries watching football! Togo gained a lot of prestige when its own national football team qualified for the 2006 World Cup.
